Karlsruhe, October 1, 2024 – aicas GmbH was honored with the Showcase Award at the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) All-Member Meeting in Novi, Michigan. This award recognizes organizations that excel in adopting COVESA standards, contributing knowledge to the community, and driving innovation in the use of COVESA technology.
The award, presented by Steve Crumb, the executive director of COVESA, acknowledges aicas’ innovative approach to demonstrating how Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) technology can shape the future of the connected vehicle. aicas was selected for its successful implementation of VSS in partnership with NXP Semiconductors. This solution demonstrated aicas’ ability to integrate COVESA standards into a scalable, real-world solution that provides the automotive industry with efficient and reliable data management tools.
Innovative Vehicla Data Collection and Management
The collaboration between aicas and NXP resulted in a novel data collection and management solution that converts heterogeneous vehicle CAN data into the VSS format. By leveraging runtime components deployed on automotive processors, the system allows users to define signal rules, collect and filter data, and conditionally send it to the cloud.
“Our goal was to demonstrate how VSS can be used in real-world scenarios to simplify vehicle data management,” said Dr. James J. Hunt, co-founder, CEO, and CTO of aicas. “By working with NXP, we’ve created a flexible and scalable data management process that supports global fleet optimization and smarter vehicle operations.” The partnership provides the following:
- Powerful VSS implementation through aicas’ EdgeSuite, enabling efficient data-handling and transmission.
- Full support for NXP’s advanced processors, ensuring a robust and reliable solution.
- Seamless, scalable vehicle and fleet management, enabling operators to easily manage data across multiple hardware platforms.
To further enhance vehicle data management, the solution allows users to select specific data from large volumes and transmit only the relevant information to the cloud. This data is then made accessible and usable through the aicas Edge Data Gateway (EDG), where it can be analyzed and visualized in realtime. The partnership between aicas and NXP is key to this solution: while aicas enables fleet management through edge runtimes and its comprehensive cloud management portals, NXP provides the backbone with its advanced processors and diverse system solutions, ensuring reliable and robust performance.
